In summer 2006, I was involved with a project to probe how health defines lives and how it is defined by Philadelphians. The question – what were the barriers and promoters of health in a community? We used photography as a method to stimulate interviewing conversations for this cultural+health anthropological study. In North Philly, we snapped many images of Philly murals. Now, imagine how great the conversations about health, race, poverty, social justice etc. would have been if we were able to see and listen to the murals and their community interact.
“Italian artist BLU is famous for painting politically and socially charged street murals, This video MUTO is a series of digital stills assembled from sequential paintings on the streets/walls of Buenos Aires, Argentina.”
Really interesting/disturbing, Raech.
